Who?
Hello, my name is Shelena Claypool Butt, a.k.a. Ms. B and this is my fifth year teaching fifth grade. Prior to teaching, I was a director and teacher for a preschool program. In addition, I worked as a paralegal and medical transcriptionist for many years. While I've worn many hats, my calling is teaching. I absolutely love being an educator and working with children. I am excited about another great year and the opportunity of sharing this journey with you and your child.
When I'm not at school, you will usually find me providing taxi service to my two children-Hannah and Caleb- or attending one of their school functions. My husband, Tracy, and I have been married for 22 years! My Hannah is a senior and will graduate this December. My Caleb is a sophomore. We all work together on our farm outside of Portland. We have numerous cows, dogs, cats, donkeys, chickens and a horse. We have a huge garden and we raise hay and tobacco. My children have their own bottle calves and other various jobs for which they are responsible.
If I'm not planning lessons and activities for school I enjoy reading, gardening, going to the movies, listening to music and running. I also enjoy traveling, but I hate to fly! My absolute favorite pastime, besides spending time with my family, is relaxing with a cup of coffee and a book.
